This recipe for Meat and Feijoa Bake involves trimming and frying the meat chops with onion until browned, then transferring them to a casserole. A sauce made with flour, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, water, and beef stock is prepared in the same pan. Peeled and sliced feijoas are added to the casserole, covered with the sauce, and baked at 130°C for 1½ to 2 hours until the meat is tender.

Ingredients

  • 4 Meat chops
  • 1 onion
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 2 Tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Vinegar
  • 4 large feijoas
  • 1 tsp salt and ¼ tsp freshly ground pepper
  • 1½ Cups water
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1½ tsp beef stock powder

Method

Step 1

Trim chops, peel and chop onion.

Step 2

Fry the Meat chops and onion in the oil until lightly browned. Lift out of pan and place in casserole.

Step 3

Add the flour, sugar, salt and pepper to the fry pan and stir.

Step 4

Combine water, soy sauce, vinegar and stock powder.

Step 5

Gradually stir these into the pan and bring to the boil.

Step 6

Peel and slice feijoas and add to casserole. Cover with sauce. Cover and bake at 130°C for 1½ to 2 hours until meat is tender. Serves
