Feijoa crumble typically refers to a dish made with Feijoa fruit topped with a crumbly mixture of flour, butter, and sugar, often baked until the topping is crisp and browned.
Crumbles are often served warm and may be accompanied by ice cream, whipped cream, or custard. They’re beloved for their comforting, homely appeal and are often enjoyed during colder months.
Ingredients
- About 1 Kilogram Feijoas
- About 1/2 cup water
- Sugar to taste
- Lemon juice to taste
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 5 tablespoon flour
- 3 tablespoon melted butter
Method
Step 1
Peel and halve the feijoas, and cook in a little water with sugar and lemon juice.
Step 2
Turn into a 4-cup ovenware dish and leave to go cold. The dish should have about 3 centimeters of space at the top.
Step 3
Mix sugar and flour in a small bowl, and using a fork, work in the melted butter until the mixture is crumbly.
Step 4
Sprinkle this over the cold feijoas. Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes.
