Feijoa syrup is a concentrated liquid made from the use of feijoa skins along with other ingredients like water and sugar the mixture is then boiled and cooled making it a versatile ingredient in both culinary and beverage applications. To make Feijoa syrup follow the provided steps below.
Ingredients
- 3 cups Feijoa skins
- 2-3 cups water
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- Handful of Lemon Verbena Leaves (Can replace the Lemon Verbena with lemon or lime rind)
Method
Step 1
Put everything into a medium pot over a medium heat
Step 2
Stir to dissolve the sugar, then leave to simmer very gently for approx. 30 minutes (or until the whole house is perfumed.
Step 3
Remove from the heat and leave to cool.
Step 4
Once cool, pour through a sieve into sterilised glass bottles. Store syrup in the fridge.
Step 5
To serve, pour a splash of Feijoa syrup over ice and tip with Soda.
